Modern Youth Vibrant Wallpaper Print

In this tutorial, we will create a modern cool looking multicoloured wallpaper. Though it's a tutorial for wallpaper design, but can be successfully used

for many other applications like fliers, posters, postcards and a host of other stationery and desktop publishing designs.

Create the new document of any size.  We used a 640 x 480 pixels size.

new_01

Start by using any busy background.  It can be any background with some colours and random designs on it.  We used an abstract background to start with.

new_02

Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.  Then press Ctrl+T and rotate the rectangle by a few degrees.  Similarly create more rectangles and rotate as shown below.

new_03

Create a new layer.  Use custom shape tool and from the Preset shapes fly out menu at the options bar on top chooses a "registration target 2 shape".

new_04

new_05

Create the shape by pressing shift as shown below.

new_07

Select rectangular shape tool.

new_07a

Click intersect shape areas from the top.

new_7b

Create a rectangle over the shape as shown below. Using path selection tool, click rectangle and rotate it by pressing Ctrl+T. Make sure you rotate the rectangle so that it fit the yellow rectangle perfectly or for better and precise control you can use direct selection tool and click on the particular nodes and make them a fit on the corners of the yellow rectangle.

new_09

From layer palette changed layer mode to soft light.

new_10

new_11

Repeat the procedure for all the rectangles.

new_12

Insert an image where you have a few silhouettes of dancing girls.

new_13

Press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer. Rotate the layer so that it looks like a mirror reflection.

new_14

Reduce the Reduce the opacity to 29% .

new_15

From bottom of the layer palette click on "Add vector mask". Press D to reset the foreground and background colors to default B&W. Select gradient tool. Apply in linear mode to create a soft blend.

new_16

new_17

new_18

new_19

Similarly insert a few images of cowboys and apply same masking as we did with the girls silhouette image.

new_21

new_22

Take another abstract image and place it below the layer containing registration target 2 layer.

new_23

Change the layer mode to lighten in layer palette.

new_24

new_25

Move the layer order in layer palette so that it's below the girls image layer.

new_26

Repeat the step with another abstract layer.  Place it over another rectangle and play around with the layer mode.

new_27

You can type in some text of your choice to complete the wallpaper.

It would be nice if you provided the links to your source images. Cool tutorial
though, the techniques you used here can be applied to other projects as well.
Thanks!
