In this tutorial we're going to create a crucified heart.

Create a new document using your preference things.  We used 640 x 480 pixels document.

Fill the background with a bright red colour.

From filter menu select filter>> render >>different clouds.  This Ctrl+lF to repeat the filter with the same settings.

From filter menu select filter Gallery >> grain. Apply settings as shown below.

Create a circle using elliptical shape tool.

From filter menu apply blur >> Gaussian Blur.

Apply settings as shown below.

Change the layer mode to overlay.

Create a few duplicates of the circle and spread in the whole document.

Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.

Create a new document with transparent background.  Using custom shape create "ornaments 6" shape from the preset shape menu on the top bar.

From edit menu choose define pattern.

You can name the pattern for your future reference.

Come back to the main file. Select rectangle layer. Double click the layer to open layer style window and apply settings as shown.
In pattern overlay we choose the pattern recreated in an earlier step.

Double click the layer to open layer style window and apply settings as shown.

Using pen to create the horizontal portion of the cross as shown below.  Apply the same layer style as we used for the other part of the cross but take off bevel and emboss in the layer.

Create a new layer and using pen tool draw a path as shown below.

From the brush tool fly out choose pencil tool.

From the bar at the top light hard rounded.

And Using direct selection tool and select the path  we created in an earlier step.

Right click and choose the stroke path.

Use pencil in stroke path options.

From filter menu select distort >> Sheer.

Apply settings as shown below.

Create a few duplicates of the layer in place is as shown below.

Using smudge tool with wide brush settings apply it on the path we created in an earlier step.

It will turn the path into a smoky shape.

Insert an image of a heart.

Change the layer mode to luminosity.

Using brush tool with a soft rounded brush setting, apply a few strokes in a new layer.

Reduce the size of the brush and apply a few more strokes of difference radius.
